Back when I did my one month vegetarian experiment I told people that I felt better when I wasn't eating meat. It was hard to explain - yes my stomach felt better and I had more energy but then today when I read this article, I was able to flesh out that feeling better. I think that when I was eating more vegetables I actually felt better in my mind and spirit - more positive. I think that what you eat can really affect your mood and research seems to back it up. Some people are more sensitive to diet then others but if you are struggling with some depression or anxiety, why not try improving things by changing your diet? If you are really crazy add some exercise and discipline yourself to sleep more and I guarantee you will feel a difference. Has changing your diet ever helped you feel better?

Diet and exercise make me a different person... a better, more well behaved one at that. When I eat crap, I find myself more tired, exercise less and start feeling more depressed. It's amazing what a little change can do.
For me it was a slight change in diet and adding some exercise. 3 weeks ago I added a 45 min exercise program to my daily 1 hr. walk and added more fruits and veggies to my already mostly healthy diet . I also try hard to stay away from any empty calorie food! My reason for this change was to shed some poundage! After just 2 weeks I noticed that my clothes fit differently, but I still hadn't lost any weight at all. The result has been that not only do I feel better in every way, I also sleep better. In fact my sleep has improved at least 50% (I was really suffering in that department!). I'm more tired by evening but it's that "good" tired. This has taken the focus off losing weight to simply being healthy.
Having said that...I think a change is always a bit of an "upper". It's exciting, new and different at least for awhile.
YES. Whenever I focus on eating only whole foods - and no preservatives and chemicals at all - I feel 100% better. It's magic, I tell ya.
Absolutely! My sister is on a "I'm not eating anything that was made in a factory" program, and she feels great, and is losing weight.
Here's to our continued health, as chemical-free as we can make it.
