The other day I asked several of my co-workers what they were currently reading and posted about the experience. The more people I ask, the more intrigued with this question I become. Sometimes though I get this response; "I'm not reading anything." I've discovered that there are lots of people out there who don't read anything. As an avid reader I was pretty shocked at first ("um . . . do you know how to read?") but then I realized that not everyone enlightens themselves in the same way. So non-readers, do not be ashamed. It is time to embrace your non-readingness!
So here's a different question for you; "What are you listening to?"
I have no answer to this as I am:
a. Not musical or artistic.
b. Too cheap to spend money on music.
c. Not a music pirate.
d. An avid reader who cannot read and listen to music at the same time.
However, I am still curious to know what others are listening to, what they are getting out of this music, and what about that music inspires or "moves" them. Is talking about what one listens to even more personal then what one is reading? Try the question and see what results you get.

Now you're talking my language! I love music! It speaks to me more than any book or sermon ever could! I am currently listening to a lot of Chris Tomlin songs. Two of my favorites are, "How can I keep from Singing Your Praise" and "Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone". Praise and Worship have been large in my life lately. I was listening to a lot of Christian music that carried political or moral themes. I got to a point where I didn't like where some of these songs were taking me and so I started in on a bunch of praise and worship music. It's amazing how music can change your attitude about things going on in your life. I have learned in the last few days that no matter how aweful life may get, there is still time and reason to Praise the Lord! When I think about how He has saved me and how He loves me, I can't help but praise Him! I sang this song in church today and love this one part of the words...let me share with you...
"I can sing in the troubled times, sing when I win, I can sing when I lose my step and I fall down again. I can sing 'cause You pick me up, sing 'cause You're there. I can sing 'cause You hear me Lord when I'm calling You in prayer. I can sing with my last breath, sing for I know that I'll sing with the Angels and the Saints around the Throne!"
Hallelujah! Let my life be one huge song to my God! How could anything compare with Him!

Honestly man, I listen to the radio. :)
Country is my music of choice, and one thing I like about it is the fact that I get Christian content there as well. I can rattle off a bunch of songs off the top of my head that are positive, God-affirming songs. They also tend to be songs about real life that I can relate too; the newest bouncy bar song really doesn't do it for me (hence why I never listen to 103 :)

Michelle: Obviously music inspires you, that's really cool. Music does have that ability. I wonder why I don't listen to it more then. I can imagine myself never listening to music again, but I can't imagine myself never reading.
Jay: Country? Hmm . . . I could say something here, but I won't. I like what you said about being able to relate to songs, that is important to be also in the songs that I do (occasionally) listen to. A song who's story resonates with mine . . .
