Oh My . . .

In a turn of events that can only be described as "incredible" or "ironic beyond belief" Jobina and I were interviewed and mentioned briefly in Modern Bride Magazine. Seriously! Check it out. We are in the article about unplugged honeymoons in the October/November edition which just hit the shelves. The article mentions our disconnection with the wired world when we went our on second honeymoon to Belize.

I can't describe how bizarre it is to see my name and a small picture in this magazine. By the way, if you read the article, know that they embellished much of the facts. Especially the part about me being a computer addict. (To be fair though, the part about Jobina and I emailing each other while we are in the same house is true.)

So here's me, celebrating my first interview in a major magazine! What's next? Cottage Life? Engineer's Weekly? The possibilities boggle the mind . . .

I guess you can't post the article on your blog? Congratulations on being famous! :)

Hey Aneta, yeah, it would be nice to put a link to an online version but sadly there is no online version! We looked at several places for the magazine and were surprised to find it at Walmart!

So awesome! Were you interviewed while you were in Belize? Or after? Very very cool!!!!

It was after. The magazine contacted the owner of Cotton Tree who suggested they contact us (the owner liked our blog accounts of our adventures up there). They emailed us mostly by email and we didn't hear anything for awhile. A few weeks later they called me to check on facts and told us that we'd be in the October issue. Voila - our names are in print!

Oops, that should be "they interviewed us mostly by email!"

How very cool! Congrats! We are planning kind of a 'non-wedding' so I haven't even picked up a Bride magazine (or thought about it for that matter) but knowing your name is in print is enough to go get at least this one!

Here I was thinking I wouldn't need/have an excuse to buy another wedding magazine! YEAH!! I love them and now I can buy one last one!

I looked for this at the McPhillips Wal-Mart yesterday but they didn't have the new issue out yet!

Yah, it was hard for us to find as well. By the way, the cover on my post is not the cover of this year's Oct/Nov issue. Thank goodness this year's cover is less pink!

That isn't the cover? Oh no, I hope I didn't actually have it in my hands and put it back...I flipped through the table of contents and didn't see anything about Unplugged Honeymoons, so I really hope I didn't actually have the thing and put it back!

Was the cover primarily blue?

Jay, sorry man, yes it's quite blue (there is a bride with a lake in the background). It is a very thick magazine with a terrible contents page (doesn't have half the articles). We are just a few paragraphs in the article so it's not surprising you missed it. On the cover it says "Oct/Nov" under the main title (on the right) and has such headlines as "472 ways to make your day shine" and "Secrets of Wedding Night Sex (real couples did that?)

Hmm, that may have been it after all. Shoot! I just flipped to the table of contents and didn't see the section heading you mentioned. Well, I'm back in the city on the 6th so I'll have to try get it then.
